What are we waking up for? Some might dismiss this as a naive question. ‘I wake up to go to work’, they might say. But this is a red herring. What are you really waking up for in the morning? What are you looking forward to do in the new day that has dawned? Waking up is a given, but waking up with a purpose is not.
A good walk has all the benefits of a short meditation, or a mindfulness session. It provides the benefits of physical exercise. It is an excellent opportunity to daydream and plan creative activity. And it fills your heart with gratefulness and appreciation for the beauty our senses deliver to us, helping us to focus on what is worth focusing on in our lives.
